NATO's Terror Marshals

There are few advantages to my being a political prisoner in Bolivia; one of them is an easy access to the Venezuelan television network teleSUR. Countries like Mexico completely ban it. While in the USA, I could never find its broadcasts. And right now, during the first week of August 2011, this network is providing an excellent coverage of two events which are sour to western eyes. The first is in Spain, where a movement known as Indignados (“angry ones” in Spanish, also referred to as 15M) has conducted a long march since June and is now occupying Madrid’s “Plaza Puerta del Sol” (Sun’s Gate Plaza) in demand of financial and political reforms. Last Thursday protesters were brutally attacked by the police and thrown out of the plaza. Yesterday – August 5 – the protesters kicked out the police and declared: “The sun is bright again in the plaza,” despite being well after midnight. teleSUR is the only news network interviewing the protesters; the Spanish television is more interested in the weather, though from time to time unfocused images of the plaza are shown. CNN and the BBC are still trying to find Spain on a map. They’ll probably discover it the day after the monarchy collapses.
The second event cannot be brushed away so easily by the international media networks. Yet, the differences in the reports are abysmal. They are so large that I added these three screenshots from teleSUR to this article. Somehow, the truth about the ongoing terrorist attacks of the West in Libya is being represented as an heroic act by NATO’s marshals and the western media is cooperating in the deception. Somehow, United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 is mentioned only by its title by western media; its content is seldom discussed. Adopted on March 17 of this year, the resolution forms the alleged legal basis for the current attacks on Libya by NATO. Among other things, it authorizes the international community to establish a no-fly zone and to use all means necessary short of foreign occupation to protect civilians. Let’s forget about the ugly incident at the beginning of the war in which British commandos were captured and thrown out of the country by the Libyan rebels and let’s concentrate instead on what NATO is doing in recent weeks.
On a daily base, teleSUR is broadcasting filmed testimonies and interviews from Libya which make it obvious NATO is violating the abovementioned UN resolution. NATO is attacking civilians, schools, houses and apparently everything else on Libya, in sharp contradiction to its mandate. The terrorist attacks are so large that bringing a list of NATO’s violations would be impossible in this format. The story of an emerging genocide in the name of cheap oil for the west is revealed by this summary: 1118 people hit in 1600 civilian targets until August 5. There are no signs that NATO is about to stop its massacre. The mass murder is being conducted under the command of two men: Giampaolo Di Paola - Chairman of the NATO Military Committee – and Anders Fogh Rasmussen - Secretary General of NATO. They are violating their mandate; every soldier obeying their commands is committing war crimes and deserves to be put on trial by an international court in the future. It would be useful for NATO’s Terror Marshals to open a Bible and read a bit about God’s Justice. I know you are not Christians, thus let me bring you a citation from the Old Testament: Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth. Another useful quote in this context is by James Petras (“Afghanistan: Why civilians are killed”): “Success,” according to the imperial world view is measured internationally by the number of client rulers; nationally by the number of flags pinned to the war maps denoting ‘secure cities;’ and locally by the body counts of massacred families. + +
