Twice during the last week, I got emails from loyal American readers asking from me to react to the January 13, 2012, main column of the Atlanta Jewish Times. At first I was reluctant; after all it has been assessed almost everywhere. “Think! There must be something you can add, maybe from the Talmud,” one of my readers insisted and eventually convinced me. Yitzhak Obama is the result.   Did Andrew Adler Commit Suicide?   Andrew Adler, published on the abovementioned day an editorial column in which he claimed that Israel might someday need to “order a hit” on the president of the United States. He described a scenario in which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would need to “give the go-ahead for US-based Mossad agents to take out a president deemed unfriendly to Israel.” Then, the vice president would take office and dictate US policies that would help the Jewish state “obliterate its enemies.” Adler wrote that it is highly likely that the idea “has been discussed in Israel’s most inner circles.”

Jewish leaders condemned Adler, who apologized for the column, resigned, and put the newspaper up for sale. Did Andrew Adler commit suicide? I don’t accept that and I hope to convince the readers in the following paragraphs that we are seeing something much more macabre.

Wag the President

Since 2009, I have been claiming Israel would not directly attack Iran, unless in the fashion described in Astonishing Israeli Attack on Iran. Israel is simply unable to perform a conventional attack on such a large and far away target. Instead, Israel tries to Wag the Dog, an attack in which the “tail” (Israel) is attempting to wag the “dog” (USA) into attacking Iran, as some say was done in the Iraq War (see Wag the Dog for detailed analysis).

The fact is also that the USA would find such an attack very difficult. Iran is neither Iraq nor Afghanistan. Instead of sacrificing two or three million American young men, the American president may find himself saying “no!” to Benjamin Netanyahu.

If unable to Wag the President, Israel may decide to take him out, as Mr. Adler kindly pointed out. In fact, I would dare to speculate that Israel asked from Mr. Adler to publish such an article. It reads very much like a veiled threat against President Obama. “This is what awaits you if you do not fulfill our orders!” was Israel’s message.

So, there is a scenario, and the reasons for triggering it. Yet, would Israel behave in such a savage way?

The Unbearable Easiness of Israeli Violence towards America

I feel uncomfortable about needing to bring facts regarding the unbearable easiness with which Israel attacks American targets. Instead of making an exhaustive list, I will mention just two well known events.

On June 8, 1967, after eight hours of aerial surveillance, Israel launched a two-hour air and naval attack against the USS Liberty. The attack inflicted 34 dead and 172 wounded on a crew of 294. The Israeli air attack lasted approximately 25 minutes, during which time unmarked Israeli aircraft dropped napalm canisters on the Liberty’s bridge, and fired 30mm cannons and rockets into the ship. Survivors estimate 30 or more sorties were flown over the ship by a minimum of 12 attacking Israeli planes which were jamming all five American emergency radio channels. The torpedo boat attack involved not only the firing of torpedoes, but the machine-gunning of the Liberty’s firefighters and stretcher-bearers as they struggled to save their ship and crew; the Israeli torpedo boats later returned to machine-gun at close range three of the Liberty’s life rafts that had been lowered into the water by survivors to rescue the most seriously wounded. This attack is savage by any account.

Then there was the assassination of Rachel Corrie by the IDF. Let me bring a few lines from The Cross of Bethlehem, which is dedicated to Rachel:

Sitting in an internet café, I learned about Rachel Corrie, an American citizen standing in front of an Israeli army bulldozer, trying to protect houses belonging to Palestinian civilians about to be destroyed, as a punishment to others’ crimes.
The bulldozer crushed her feet, ankles and knees. It destroyed her hips and ribcage. At which moment did she lose consciousness for the last time? Confronting the yellow monster in her bright orange vest, she became a 21st century Christian martyr.
Twenty years earlier, on December 8, 1983, an extremely dangerous Palestinian terrorist was killed by an Israeli sniper in Nablus. Yosef Harnoi, a settler from Eilon Moreh, assassinated an eight-year-old girl called Aisha Adnan Al-Bahsh. He wounded her sister as well. Aisha was in her hometown. Mr. Harnoi was a settler ignoring and violating international law. On October 2, 1985, he was convicted by the Tel Aviv district court of manslaughter and was also found guilty of causing the girl's sister grievous bodily harm. He was sentenced to a mere ten years imprisonment and a five-month suspended sentence. The murder claim was rejected on grounds of his alleged epilepsy. He – as all male settlers – had been trained by the army, held a position in the settlements’ military protection system, and most important of all, was given gun and ammunitions by the IDF. The government and the army were content with the light punishment. Aisha couldn’t react to the sentence and her family was never indemnified for the crime. The indemnification issue is very important. Only if the political and military leaders face the reality of indemnifying their victims and see their war-profits diminish, only then will these crimes in Israel end. Israel consistently refuses to pay damages to Arab victims for its actions. However, in 1952, the young State of Israel signed the Reparations Agreement with Germany, in which Germany agreed to indemnify the WWII victims.
Rachel’s assassin was never brought to court. He still walks free. It is inconceivable that the Israeli army authorities – and the Israeli government as well – were not aware of the assassin’s identity since moving any military vehicle means that an officer must sign a form stating the driver’s name and that a copy was left at the headquarters. The fact that the army and the state have covered the assassin’s tracks means a de facto approval of the atrocity.
Israel prides itself on its morality, on its superiority on these grounds when compared to regimes like the Nazi’s. However, it is a society that discriminates in how it delivers punishment. A Palestinian causing similar damage to a Jewish girl would have been lynched on the spot by the self-righteous mob or put in prison for life. But justice in Israel is relative. Maybe that’s why Albert Einstein was offered the presidency of the state in the 1950’s.

The Unbearable Easiness of Israeli Violence towards its Leaders

Eight years and twenty-five days before I was shot at by an Israeli agent, I was half-listening to “Reshet Bet,” the Israeli government’s news radio station. They were broadcasting live from a peace rally on Tel Aviv’s main square. At around 9:30 PM, a slight change in the tone and semantics used by the anchors hinted that something had happened. There were unclear shouts in the background; panic filtered into the anchors’ voices, while they were trying to buy time and understand what was happening. Death was in the air. Three gunshots had shattered a dream. Rabin – Israel’s Prime Minister – had been assassinated by a religious Jew, and a promising peace process had died. (excerpt from The Cross of Bethlehem)

Rabin was allegedly the best secured head of state in the world. The thought that a civilian could enter the “sterile area” surrounding Rabin was unbelievable. Yet, the event had been videotaped by Roni Kempler – a man with unclear but published connections with the security services – who was standing on the “Gan Hair” shopping mall roof. Inexplicably, he was allowed to stand within the sterile security area surrounding Rabin’s exit point. In the minutes before the killing, his video focused mainly on the assassin, as if he knew what was about to happen. In the video, the rear bodyguard was seen clearing the way to the assassin, who shot three bullets before he was restrained by the police. Later, the video was purchased by “Channel 2” – allegedly for a million dollars – and then broadcast to the astonished public, before being banished from the Israeli media.

Later, it became known that the assassin, Yigal Amir, was targeted by the Shin Beth months before that and that the Shin Beth trained him in the use of arms. Avishai Raviv, a Shin Beth employee, was placed next to him. They claimed he was only an information gathering agent. Yigal Amir, a former Yeshiva student studying at the religious Bar Ilan University, killed Prime Minister Rabin with the blessing of his Pharisaic rabbi. He moved from one rabbi to another until he found one who agreed that the killing would save many Jewish lives; and thus – the religious authority claimed – it was justified.

Raviv knew that and reported Yigal Amir's plan to assassinate Yitzhak Rabin, based on “din rodef,” the Law of the Pursuer, which rabbis interpret in the Talmud as allowing the killing of another Jew to prevent him from handing Jewish land over to non-Jews.

Despite that, the Shin Beth did not stop Amir. Apparently, it even placed a cameraman in the right spot.

The most troubling part of this story is that The Jerusalem Post, an English language, right-wing newspaper published in Jerusalem, reported witnesses having heard Raviv telling Amir: “Be a man! Kill him already!” Later on, Raviv’s name came out during Amir’s trial. It was published that his operational code was “Champagne.” Nothing seems more appropriate for an agitating agent, which is a better definition of the role he performed.

Israel has no scruples in killing what the Shin Beth considers inconvenient leaders.

A Warning to America

So we have everything in place. In this Wag the Dog scenario, Israel is trying to force the USA into war with Iran. It seems, the situation is so desperate that a personal warning has been issued.

Let me be very clear. I have survived several years on the Israeli target list. Not anymore; the attack of July 2009 inflicted irreversible damage to my throat and is slowly killing me. A dying man is talking to you America, and warning you: the Atlanta Jewish Times column was a typical Israeli veiled threat. These are performed openly, though indirectly, and in a fashion that can be dismissed as nonsense. Let me emphasize, President Obama has never been a favorite of the Jewish establishment; in the past I reported on a Racial Attack on President Obama on the Hebrew Media; the event looks institutional to me.

In January 2012, Israel issued a death threat against the President of the USA. How would Yitzhak Obama react?
